Thirty tourism operators from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro participated in a training session aimed at understanding the needs of digital nomads and developing tourism offers tailored to this growing global trend. The training was held as part of the STAR project – Strengthening the Tourism Offer in the Cross-Border Area through Attracting Digital Nomads to Rural Areas, funded by the European Union.
During the two-day training, participants used practical tools and group work to develop ideas based on the “4A” model (Attract, Adapt, Amaze, Amplify), focusing on sustainable and innovative tourism.
Digital nomads are increasingly choosing destinations that offer good internet connectivity, inspiring environments, and authentic local experiences – exactly what the rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro can provide.
The STAR project brings a new perspective for the sustainable development of tourism in the cross-border region. The goal of the project is to create the conditions necessary to attract digital nomads as a new target group of tourists, thereby opening up numerous opportunities for local communities on both sides of the border.
This workshop marks the first step in a series of planned activities that include further trainings, the development of action plans for reaching digital nomads by involved tourism operators, organization of a conference, creation of digital platforms, and the overall promotion of the cross-border region as an attractive destination for digital nomads.
The project is led by INTERA Technology Park, in partnership with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis and the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro. It aims to strengthen the cross-border region ,as an appealing destination for digital nomads. Activities will continue through additional training, development of action plans, promotion, and digital tools. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the IPA III CBC Programme Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027.
