Today, October 10, 2024, the Cross Border Coworking Conference (CBCC) 2024: Digital Nomads Edition has begun at INTERA Technology Park in Mostar. This prestigious event, dedicated to digital nomads, remote work, and coworking communities, has gathered participants from various parts of the world, from local entrepreneurs to international industry experts. The conference lasts for two days, during which participants have the opportunity to engage in workshops, panels, and discussions addressing the future of remote work and digital nomadism in the region and beyond.
The first day of the conference will be marked by a rich program, including interactive workshops covering topics ranging from strategic service promotion to practical advice for digital nomads and those looking to optimize their work. Some key speakers shared their experiences in developing coworking communities in less developed regions, highlighting the importance of collaboration and innovation for future progress.
“This year’s Cross Border Coworking Conference (CBCC) is a continuation of our mission to empower the coworking space community and digital nomads in the region. INTERA TP has already brought five digital nomads to Mostar twice through the Recooper program, where they enjoyed the beauty of the region for 15 days. Their enthusiasm has motivated us to work even harder on developing this story. I would also like to proudly highlight our coworking space, Code Hub Mostar, located in the city center, which is a key location for the development of the digital nomad community in Herzegovina throughout the year,” emphasized Mia Miočević, Community Manager at Code Hub Mostar.
Jelena Popivoda from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis emphasized that this year’s conference focuses on digital nomads. The goal is to present the Western Balkans as an attractive destination for the development of digital nomadism. She noted that they are bringing in experts from around the world, who share their experiences through workshops and informal discussions, while digital nomads contribute insights to enhance the region.
Nora Dunn, a digital nomad, emphasized the importance of having a community and continuously networking with like-minded individuals. “I have spent the last two weeks in Bosnia and, honestly, I have fallen in love with this country. The digital nomad community in Mostar is exceptional, and the city has all the ingredients needed to be a perfect place for digital nomads. A rich and diverse culture, delicious food, affordable living costs, and coworking spaces foster productivity. Based on my experience, I can say that Mostar is perfect for digital nomads.”
Tamara Kojić, Community Specialist, addressed the media and highlighted that this is the 4th edition of the CBCC conference, which has previously taken place in Budva, Jahorina, and Nikšić. The goal of this traveling conference is to bring digital nomads closer to the community in the region and enable local operators to connect with this target group. This year’s CBCC conference features two key speakers: Paul Bradbury, who has been living and working in Croatia for 20 years, and Andrea Paoletti, who will present a successful digital nomadism project in Italy.
Ivan Barbarić, a representative of the City of Mostar, stated, “The City of Mostar has been intensively working on tourism development for the past four years, and digital nomads are a group that spreads excellent word-of-mouth about the destination they stay in. We have been working on the infrastructure to help digital nomads choose Mostar as their base. I attended the first conference in Budva, where we discussed many projects for Mostar. Since then, we have developed Mostar Airport, which has improved connectivity with the world and facilitated the arrival of digital nomads.”
On the second day of the conference, October 11, participants will have the opportunity to take a trip through the natural beauties of Herzegovina and enjoy a special outdoor stand-up session. This informal part of the conference will provide an opportunity for additional networking among participants in a unique setting. The program will conclude with an evening gathering, allowing participants to relax and discuss ideas stemming from workshops and presentations.
The Cross Border Coworking Conference 2024: Digital Nomads Edition is organized by INTERA Technology Park and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis, in collaboration with Deli.
