RTIT>> Sustainable and Innovative Concrete Materials: Workshop and Study Visit in Pécs Brought Together Partners and SMEs from the Danube Region

As part of the RTIT project, a workshop and study visit dedicated to sustainable and innovative concrete materials was held in Pécs, Hungary, on March 4–5, 2026. The event took place at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), and brought together project partners and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from countries across the Danube region.

The programme focused on practical solutions and emerging trends shaping the construction sector, with an emphasis on sustainability, efficiency, and material resilience. Through lectures, demonstrations, and discussions, participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and exchange practical experiences.

Key topics and activities

During the workshop, the following topics were addressed:

  • additive technologies in construction, including a demonstration of 3D-printed concrete
  • life cycle assessment (LCA) of construction materials and approaches to measuring environmental impact
  • materials for energy efficiency, durability, and climate resilience
  • solutions for recycling and end-of-life management of construction materials
  • the use of natural and alternative materials, as well as biomimicry in modern construction

The programme also included study visits to relevant locations, further enriching the practical component of the event and opening space for discussions on the applicability of solutions in local contexts.

Strengthening transnational cooperation

The gathering of partners and SMEs from multiple countries further contributed to transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange, particularly through examples from diverse industrial and research environments. Such meetings play an important role in connecting experts, identifying common challenges, and developing ideas for future pilot activities and the practical application of innovations.

INTERA Technology Park continues its activities within the RTIT project, focusing on knowledge transfer and support for innovation in the field of sustainable, bio-based, and advanced materials.

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
