RTIT>> Transnational Piloting Activity in Augsburg Brought Together Partners and SMEs from the Danube Region

As part of the RTIT>> project, a transnational piloting activity was held in Augsburg, Germany, gathering project partners, stakeholders, and SMEs from across the Danube region.

The RTIT>> project focuses on strengthening the innovation capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of materials and material technologies, with a strong emphasis on improving collaboration between businesses and the research, technology, and innovation sectors.

In the final phase of the project, Augsburg hosted a two-day programme organized by Bayern Innovativ, showcasing the city’s transformation from a traditional manufacturing hub into a modern high-tech ecosystem.

Participants visited key institutions within the Augsburg Innovation Park, including the Technology Center Augsburg, the Materials Resource Management Institute, and Fraunhofer IGCV, gaining insights into advanced materials, additive manufacturing, and applied research.

The programme also covered knowledge communities, technology transfer models in Bavaria, and cluster initiatives such as Composites United e.V. and MAI Carbon, which connect leading stakeholders in composite materials.

The second day focused on future-oriented production concepts, including visits to the AI Showroom and Hall 43, as well as practical examples of additive manufacturing at Fraunhofer IGCV.

The activity enabled partners and SMEs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Ukraine to exchange experiences and explore opportunities to improve innovation outcomes in materials science and technologies.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg program for the Danube Region.
