The conference has attracted some of the most esteemed global experts on migration, diaspora, and economic development. Loksan Harley, Executive Director of Homelands Advisory from the United Kingdom, impressed participants with his analyses and strategies promoting the strengthening of economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora. With extensive experience working on projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa, Harley has established himself as an expert in bridging the gap between migration and economic advancement. His approach, which views migration networks as catalysts for economic development, provided participants with insights into new models of cooperation between local entrepreneurs and the diaspora.

“One of the key drivers of this impressive transformation is undoubtedly the youthful energy and progressive spirit that pervade this region. However, I want to especially highlight the role of the diaspora, which plays an increasingly significant role in the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a large diaspora, with nearly half of its population living abroad, representing an exceptional potential that needs to be harnessed,” said Harley.

He added that the diaspora brings new skills, contacts, networks, and financial resources that can be crucial for the further economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The diaspora carries Bosnia and Herzegovina in their hearts and is no longer seen merely as a diaspora but as a national treasure that can significantly contribute to the prosperity of the country.

“I am encouraged by the interest I have seen here, from entrepreneurs and local authorities to people from the diaspora. Everyone seems dedicated to creating a favorable environment for business and investment, and the engagement of the diaspora is crucial in this process.
