As part of the 26th edition of the Mostar International Economic Fair, where Italy was the partner country this year, the Mostar Economic Forum (MEF) was held, attended by representatives of the INTERA Technology Park.
This year’s theme of the forum was the international conference titled “Connected Region”, organized through three panel discussions featuring distinguished individuals from the social, political, and economic spheres of Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Vedran Šimunović, Executive Director of INTERA Technology Park, participated in the panel discussion on the topic “CONNECTED REGION – EUSAIR Projects.” During the discussion, he shared INTERA TP’s experiences and achievements through dozens of international projects carried out in the spirit of a “connected region,” particularly with organizations from neighboring countries. These collaborations involve the development and implementation of joint innovation initiatives, digital transformation efforts, support for startups and young entrepreneurs, as well as the creation of business opportunities through conferences such as CONNECTO.
Through digital transformation projects and partnerships with Italy and Slovenia, concrete opportunities have emerged for implementing smart city solutions, including BIM technologies and digital twin platforms. He also reflected on challenges such as varying levels of digital maturity across the region, the need for increased capacities in smaller communities, and the importance of better coordination between national policies and regional initiatives like EUSAIR.
It was emphasized that strengthening regional ties requires joint planning, investment in education, and the development of standardized policies that support expert mobility and the growth of coworking infrastructure – such as CODE HUB in Mostar, which today brings together local professionals and international digital nomads.
