On March 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina officially marked the beginning of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s one-year presidency of the Western Balkans Fund (WBF) in 2024.
The meeting was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Brkić, with the presence of the Executive Director of the Fund, Dr. Gjergj Murr, and representatives of civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina as beneficiaries of the Western Balkans Fund. The meeting was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of the EU member states, Japan, Switzerland and Norway, and the head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The main goal of the WBF is aimed at strengthening reconciliation and mutual cooperation in the region, the fund finances civil society projects in the areas of promoting cultural cooperation, research and cooperation in education, scientific exchange, and sustainable development.
The event was also attended by representatives of the INTERA Technology Park, and director Vedran Šimunović was one of the presenters, presenting the project that INTERA implemented in partnership with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis from Montenegro and PROAKTIV from Serbia, which WBF supported in the previous cycle. The key activity of the project was the Cross Border Coworking Conference, dedicated to the promotion of the coworking concept and the region as an attractive destination for digital nomads, the fourth edition of which INTERA is organizing with the same partners this fall in Mostar.
