More than 100 people participated in a two-day conference ‘Artificial Intelligence in Bosnia and Herzegovina- research, applications and perspectives of the development’ and they were gathered in the rooms of INTERA Technology Park and at the online platform.
Conference held by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and INTERA Technology Park focused on the works of over 40 authors and co-authors that touched the subject of practical applications on the usage of artificial intelligence for the development of the smart thigh prosthesis and pneumatic glove for rehabilitation, also the enhancement of the passenger transport system, detection of the functional food, development of the smart network and other innovative solutions. They also mentioned the legal aspects of the artificial intelligence in the field of modern medicine and tax system, but also about its applications in the education and public space.
“When it comes to Europe and the world, the artificial intelligence has entered in all of the aspects of social life and agriculture and it is entering Bosnia and Herzegovina as such. The good thing that needs to be mentioned is that we, at our universities, technical faculties, especially Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Informatics have people that have been involved in problems and applications of artificial intelligence for a very long time. It has also been applied in different agricultural companies to a greater or lesser extent and we can expect its expansion similar to that in the rest of the world. It is important that we have people who can follow it in an adequate way. These conferences that are held and that will be held in the future are our way to support its application.”, this is how Jasmin Branković, assistant for the Science and Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education and Science referred to the artificial intelligence in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Conference resulted in Proceedings published by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and INTERA Technology Park.
“The usage of artificial intelligence in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be developed; many companies have been using the artificial intelligence and it will be expanding during this and the following year due to the fact that all the big companies have been developing their own modules for the development of artificial intelligence. The artificial intelligence will enable in this way the enhancement of the results in different professions. These Proceedings, containing the works on practical applications of artificial intelligence in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be very useful, especially if these examples are really applied in practice.” These were the words of Vedran Šimunović, manager of INTERA Technology Park.
The conference Proceeedings were presented on Wednesday, February 15th 2023 at the Code Hub and this promotion gathered authors and co-authors and all the people interested. It was discussed by the moderator Boris Čerkuč and professor dr.Alen Bernardić, MD.PhD Ana Dujmović and MD.PhD Maja Čolaković. They emphasized the importance of the subject artificial intelligence and they also emphasized the technological progress made in this aspect.
„My colleague and I have shown in our work the application of artificial intelligence in the world and we emphasized that in 2010 this trend has been accelerated, especially by the tax administrations and not the taxpayers. Here we stressed that it is mostly about risk assessment technologies, technologies of real time reporting and helping the tax payers to fulfill their obligations in an easier way. However, we concluded the article with the legal challenges that come with these technologies, especially in the tax system and we emphasized that we shouldn’t take these technologies lightly. We are still at the beginnings when it comes to artificial intelligence in the work of tax administrations- its application has started, however, what I would like to mention is that we should be well prepared for their application in order not to have repercussions that appeared in countries all over the world.” These were the words of MD. PhD Ana Dujmović, professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Mostar.
