Short description
The general goal of the project "Strengthening the competitiveness of the wood-processing sector in Herzegovina" was to contribute to sustainable economic growth and increased exports of targeted small and medium-sized enterprises, by developing high quality and educated workforce, by using information and communication technology tools in business optimization and by creating conditions for innovation. The project activities were aimed at strengthening the capacities of existing and potential employees in small and medium-sized enterprises in the mentioned sector, as well as optimizing their business processes and their digitalization. The results of the project were reflected in the increase of exports at the target companies and in new jobs.
The project was carried out by the Wood cluster of Herzegovina as a leading partner, in cooperation with INTERA Technological Park from Mostar, the FBiH Chamber of Commerce and the Hera d.o.o. Company from Mostar.
The project lasted a little over 18 months, and the total value of the project was EUR 307,194.38, of which the European Union financed EUR 242,012.34 through grants under the EU4Business project.

The project "Strengthening the competitiveness of the wood-processing sector in Herzegovina" was carried out as part of the EU4Business project, which was worth EUR 16.1 million, and was jointly financed by the European Union (EUR 15 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (EUR 1.1 million). The project was implemented jointly by GIZ, ILO and UNDP between April 2018 and March 2022.
