On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, a workshop titled “Digital Measurement Techniques in Practice” was held at INTERA Technology Park. The workshop gathered experts from various technical and technological fields, students, and future engineers interested in the latest methods of precise measurement.
The workshop focused on demonstrating several advanced digital techniques and devices, showcasing methods for precise measurement of dimensions, their changes (i.e., deformations), and the measurement of vibrations, which often indicate critical processes.
The first part of the workshop, led by Svetozar Kolesar from 3D Republika d.o.o. Belgrade, covered the application of 3D scanning in reverse engineering. Participants had the opportunity to see how 3D scanners are used for precise measurement of product dimensions, which is crucial for quality control and the development of new products through reverse engineering.
Dr. Miloš Milošević from the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade presented the Digital Image Correlation method, which enables optical measurement of deformations. Through practical examples, he demonstrated how this method is used for analyzing metallic and composite materials and various structures.
Marko Rezić from Coral Interijer d.o.o. Mostar presented the practical application of 3D scanners for capturing room geometry. This part of the workshop was particularly interesting as it enables flawless technical preparation for custom-made furniture production.
The last part of the workshop was led by dr. Davorka Šaravanja from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computing, and Electrical Engineering at the University of Mostar. She demonstrated how vibration analyzers are used for machine diagnostics and maintenance. The methods for monitoring, collecting, and analyzing vibration data were showcased, which is crucial for determining the technical condition of rotational elements.
The workshop was highly successful, providing participants with valuable information and practical demonstrations that they can immediately apply in their work. These modern digital tools and methods enable a higher level of work quality and precision, which is imperative in all technical and technological activities.
This event is another step towards enhancing technological knowledge and skills, encouraging innovation and digitalization in the region.
The workshop was organized as part of the DIGIMET project, which is part of the Innovation and Digitalization of SMEs in BiH/EU4DigitalSME project jointly funded by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) with the aim of developing the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular emphasis on digital transformation. The project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
